Feeling like you’ve overindulged during the year-end festivities? Thinking of treating your body to healthier options somehow? If so, then here are five delicious and healthy juices that you’ll surely enjoy, and will help you get over the guilt of last year’s overindulgence.
- Avocado Chocolate Juice
You read it right. Apart from incorporating it into your beauty regimen and making guacamoles out of avocados, you can also enjoy this green fruit by making healthy and tasty juices. Containing more potassium than bananas, and rich on protein, you’d definitely want to have an avocado juice as your breakfast or lunch drink.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 ripe avocado
- pinch of salt
- chocolate syrup
Procedure:
- Add in milk, avocado and a pinch of salt into the blender, and blend it until smooth.
- In a glass, pour an inch of the juice then layer it with chocolate syrup. Repeat this process until your glass is full of juice.
Tip: If your blender is capable of blending ice, you may want to add a few ice cubes into the juice to make it less thick.
- Banana Lime Yogurt Smoothie
The first time I had this drink was when a university friend made it for me. Since then, I already loved banana lime milkshakes, and thought of it as a great light meal substitute for during snack or lunch time. Here’s my version of banana lime yogurt smoothie.
Ingredients:
- Juice of half a lime
- 1 banana, thinly chopped
- ¼ cup Greek yogurt
- 1 cup low-fat milk
- Pinch of salt
Procedure:
- Simply blend all the ingredients together. Serve and enjoy.
- Carrot Milk Juice
For some odd reason, some eateries in my hometown in Singapore started serving this drink as a part of their menu when I was around nine years old. I loved the drink since then and had never gotten bored of it ever. Carrots are full of vitamins so you can’t really say that it’s a bad drink to love and be addicted to.
Ingredients:
- 1 medium-sized carrot, finely chopped
- 1 cup low-fat milk
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Pinch of salt
Procedure:
- Just blend all the ingredients together, until no traces of carrots are visible.
- If you want to turn it into a more summery drink, add some ice cubes to make a frappe out of this tasty drink.
- Mango Yogurt Drink
I’ve always been a huge fan of the Indian Mango Lassi at many Indian restaurants in Singapore, so I decided to make my own version of the healthy and tasty mango yogurt drink.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup ripened and chopped mangoes
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- ½ cup low-fat milk
- Pinch of salt
Procedure:
- Blend all the aforementioned ingredients together, and you’ll get a yummy smoothie that you’ll definitely enjoy.
- Pineapple Coconut Milk Juice
Pineapples are known to be great antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents. The fruit even contains bromelain which aids in improving one’s digestion. By blending it with coconut milk, you’ll avoid getting the usual cuddling of dairy products when they’re combined with acidic fruit juices like pineapple juice. Other than that, the coconut milk also gives the drink a distinctive taste that might trick you into thinking that you’re drinking an actual piña colada.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of chopped pineapples
- ⅓ cup coconut milk
- ¾ cup low-fat milk
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- Pinch of salt
Procedure:
- Blend all of the ingredients together.
- If you want to turn it into a more summer drink, simply add a few ice cubes to make a frappe out of the drink.
Tip: Add a small pinch of cinnamon powder on top before serving to give the drink some extra flavour.
Now that you know what drinks to try, I truly hope that the aforementioned drinks will be able to kill the guilt you might be having for indulging into your guilty pleasures during the year-end celebrations that you attended. The best part about these drinks is they’re easy to make, and just delicious to drink. So what’s not to like about these refreshing juices? None.
