The National Skin Centre recently reported that acne vulgaris is the number one condition that their patients want to be treated for. In fact, in 2011, the Centre reported treating 8,699 cases of this condition – and that was when acne vulgaris was still behind dermatitis and eczema as the leading skin problem complaint among Singaporeans.
Acne is really difficult to treat. In some cases, people have used various acne products to no avail, and, sometimes, even to the detriment of the skin of their face. If you’re someone who needs to treat their acne but can’t spend a lot on commercial treatments, here are some cheap remedies that you can use.
1. Tomato
If you have a tomato in your kitchen, you can slice it in half and rub it on your face. The tomato is proven to eliminate acne. It can shrink large pores and make your skin more blooming and fresh.
2. Baking Soda
Exfoliation is an effective acne treatment and prevention routine. Baking soda is an excellent exfoliating agent. It reduces acne by removing blackheads first. Blackheads have bacteria, which is the real cause of acne. You can treat using baking soda by mixing it in water. You can then use the solution as a mask for your face, wait for 15 minutes, and then rinse.
3. Ice
This lessens the size of your pores. It prevents new bacteria from forming and giving you more pimples. It may also give your face less redness and swelling. You just have to cleanse your face and just put an ice on it after. It is recommended to do this twice a day.
